Now, so that you don’t have to go through the same ordeal as me, here’s a list of the best websites where you can download free MIDI files and loops.

The 5 Best Websites for Free MIDI Files are;

BitMidi.com

BitMidi is probably the best-known website to download FreeMIDI files.

They have loads of songs in a wide range of genres; From electronic to rock, pop and country, all the way to classic.

If you’re looking for the themes of any Nintendo game likeMario, or for songs like bohemian rhapsody, Africa by Toto, the themes ofalmost any movie or TV Show, BitMidi has got you covered.

In fact, they provide over 113.224 MIDI files which were curated by volunteers around the world.

You can play the file right there on the website to check ifit’s really the one you’re looking for and then simply download it with oneclick… It’s that easy.

No registration- or jumping through any sort of hoopsrequired.

Additionally, there’s no limit on the number of files youcan download each day.

Check out BitMidi.com here.

MidiWorld.com

MidiWorld is very similar to BitMidi in the sense that youdon’t need to register in order to download the files and they don’t put alimit on the number of files you can download.

The Website looks a bit old, but it works just fine and it does offer roughly 10.000 MIDI files; I couldn’t find the precise information so I calculated how many they had myself and came to that rough estimate.

The only downside is that you can’t play the files beforeyou download them.

Now, MidiWorld has mostly Pop, Rock, Classical and Jazz MIDI files available which are all from the public domain, meaning that none of those files have copyright and you can use them for whatever project you like, even your YouTube videos.

However, this means that these files tend to be pretty old.

Still, it’s a fantastic resource which you should definitelycheck out.

FreeMidi.org

This website offers over 25.000 MIDI files, which isn’t as high as what BitMIDI has to offer, but it’s certainly a lot!

And since most of them were created for commercial material(Video games, commercials, etc.), this means that you won’t be able to find thefiles available on this website almost anywhere else.

You can download both the MIDI and the MP3 file, which isconverted directly from the MIDI, as well as play it directly from theirwebsite to find out how it sounds.

It even has a “Request MIDI File” rection where you canrequest a file that’s not already on the website.

Check out FreeMidi.org here.

MIDIs Free

MIDIs Free is a site that offers over 100.000 free MIDI files that you can download. Over the years, they have compiled all the free MIDI files around the web with the intention of being able to provide them all on a single website.

Even though there are a huge number of files available, it’s not that easy to find them since you can’t browse them by genre, but rather alphabetically. Of course, there’s still the alternative to search via the Artist’s name or song name, but it would be a great addition to the site to be able to view the files by genre.

Lastly, every time you want to download a file you have to wait roughly 15 seconds before it starts.

Just like BitMidi and FreeMidi.org, you can play the files directly on the website to see how you like them.

This website offers a total of 460 different drum patternswhich you can download for absolutely free.

MidiMelody.ru

Yes, this website is completely in Russian, but you can usechrome’s built-in translation tool and you should be able to use the websitejust fine.

You’ll need a MIDI Controller

Golden Collection Of Mukesh Free Download Zip File Download

In order to be able to use these plugins properly, you will need some sort of MIDI Controller.

While you can use your mouse to map the MIDI in your DAW, it’s a lot faster and easier to do it with a keyboard/controller.

My recommendation here is for you to get something like the M-Audio Oxygen 25 MK IV MIDI Controller which you can find at Amazon at a very affordable price, plus it comes with some extra software like Pro Tools First.

Listed by Genre

Now I’ll list a couple of the most famous songs of each genreand their links to the websites where you can download the MIDI files for free.

Rock-n-Roll

Pop

R&B, Hip-Hop and Trap

EDM

Conclusion

The three websites I liked the most are BitMidi.com, Carlo’s MIDI, and Freemidi.org simply because of the sheer amount of files available.

However, every single one of the websites I listed is prettydamn good and all/most of the files are available for free.

I hope this information was useful.

Have a great day!

Frequently Asked Questions

What are MIDI files used for?

Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) is a protocol which allows electronic instruments and other digital musical tools to communicate with each other.
MIDI itself does not make sound, it is just a series of messages that are interpreted by a MIDI instrument which then makes the sound.

Do I need a midi keyboard to produce music?

Even though you don’t need a MIDI keyboard to produce music, it is highly recommended due to how useful and productive they are.
However, you can use your PC’s keyboard instead, but this is far from ideal.
